“The Ukrainians” (“Добровольці Божої Чоти”): a documentary by the Ukrainian filmmakers Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasnij is coming to San Francisco again!

We showed this film last November in San Francisco and received extremely positive feedback (https://www.facebook.com/events/521138974720184/).
Now we will be showing the film again and welcoming one of the “cyborgs”, featured in the film, Oleksandr Chub.
In the last few months Chub have biked through the entire american continent, starting in Florida and finally reaching California. He was showing “The Ukrainians” to many people on his way and now MaydanSF is happy to arrange the second screening of this film for the San Francisco community.
Don’t miss the opportunity to see this amazing film and chat with the “cyborg” Chub, while he’s in San Francisco.

Suggested donation is $15 (cash donations accepted at the door).

More about the film:

Filming took place in the village of Peski and at the Donetsk airport terminals during the violent clashes between Ukrainian soldiers and pro-Russian separatists in the spring of 2014. Ukrainian soldiers became known as “Cyborgs” for their strength and fearlessness during battles for their homeland. The brave Cyborgs fought for 242 days at the Donetsk Airport. In spite of the long fight, the Cyborgs did not back down, even though they were under constant fire from tanks and heavy artillery.

The filming crew spent three months in the frontline of the war zone, alongside with Right Sector military volunteering battalion, under constant gun and artillery fire. You will have an opportunity to feel what solders felt on the front line of the war zone. You will hear the accounts of hopes and dreams of those who left their children, families, and jobs, and risked their lives to protect their country from the enemy.

The film is in Ukrainian with English subtitles;
